Why Charlie Sheen's Twitter Account Has Nothing To Do With Your Business's Social Media

Before we get too excited about Charlie Sheen's quick two million followers, let's think about this.
  • Charlie Sheen is crazy - Your business is not
  • Charlie Sheen is already rich - You are not
  • Charlie Sheen is famous - You are not
Your business needs fan and followers that are likely to buy something from you. Chances are you don't need two million of anybody even if you are a business-to-consumer operation.

Charlie Sheen? Nothing to see here. Move along:
  • If you're B2C, keep building Facebook fan bases filled with prospects that fit your target market's demographics and interests.
  • If you're B2B, use LinkedIn to find more prospects, Facebook Groups and Pages to herd them, and Twitter and your corporate blog to get people talking about your area of expertise.

Charlie Sheen does. And he isn't running your business. You are.
